Error sending message

Apple iPhone I love texting, especially on my iPhone, but every once in a while, I’ll try to send a text message only to get a “Error sending message” error. The first couple of times this happened, I thought it was simply a blip on the network, but it only happens with the a few of my contacts. with whom I text often. Today, I found a very simple fix:
On your iPhone, go to:
1. SMS
2. Select the conversation which results in the error message from the “Text Messages” screen.
3. Hit “Clear” in the top right corner under the battery indicator.
4. Text away.

killer deal

fido

competition in the cell phone market is already starting to heat up in a way that is benefitting customers. lately, i’ve been seeing a lot more plans for under $20/month being advertised in the daily rags. the one that caught my eye recently was the $17.50/mth killer fido plan from fido.

when i switched to fido in july for the iPhone, i signed up for the $30/month fido to fido plus voice plan with the following features:

  • 150 daytime minutes
  • 50 bonus minutes (with a 3 year contract)
  • unlimited evenings and weekends from 7pm
  • unlimited local calling between fido and rogers subscribers
  • per second billing
  • unlimited incoming text messages

this actually seemed to work for me quite well, other than i was paying a premium for the fido to fido and rogers piece, but, since i work 9-5, most of my calling is done after 5, and i didn’t really get to make much use of the fido to fido/rogers part. i called fido up to see if i would qualify for the plan, and i did, so the CSR made the change for me. since yesterday was also the last day of my billing cycle, the plan went into effect at midnight last night.

the new plan means:

  • i pay less (with taxes, i’m saving about $14/month)
  • have the same amount daytime minutes
  • have the same per second billing
  • evenings now start at 5pm instead of 7pm, which rocks.

sounds like a killer deal to me.

nudibranchs

one of my new co-workers had a very cool background on her desktop, so i asked her what it was, because it was very neat-o. it looked like some sort of anime character, but was very intriguing at the same time. apparently, it was a nudibranch, or a toxic “sea slug”.

today, said co-worker sent me a link to the entire series created and photographed by david doubilet for national geographic. i also found a pretty cool flickr set of nudibranchs as well.

the RIAA sucks!

cassette tape

well, that isn’t exactly news, but the fact they they have taken down muxtape (for now at least) is. just another notch in the RIAA’s axe. they just don’t get it. muxtape was a fantastic way to find, share and buy new music, of course, it was also wayyyyy too cool and useful for the RIAA to allow it to go on. pigs.
