ever since stumbling upon my co-worker’s blog, Living Plastic Free, last year, i’ve been inspired to change the way i look at the world and reduce my impact on it. think about it. i mean, really think about what it would mean to the way you live your life.

now, i’m not saying that i have managed to reach the level of “plastic free”-dom that EnviroWoman has, but it has definitely changed the way i make the simplest of decisions everyday -from how i get to work, the choices i make at the grocery store, and even the clothes i put on my back.
every time you choose to spend one of your hard earned dollars, you are saying something to the manufacturers of the products you purchase. unfortunately, very often you’re saying that it’s “okay” for them to unnecessarily wrap products in plastic instead of more environmentally friendly choices. even in cases where the plastic chosen is recyclable, facilities to recycle may not exist, or people may simply dispose of it in the garbage instead.
our planet is suffering and we are consuming every available resource that we have at an astonishing pace. if we continue on this path, the planet will become so polluted, so desolate, so hot and dry that it will severely impact the human race’s ability to survive as a species. it may be 50 years from now, it may be 5000, but we will eventually obliterate ourselves into oblivion.
some would argue that it is the cycle of life. maybe. however, we are the most intelligent species to have had the chance to grace the surface of this planet, so to simply not recognize that we are extremely luckily to have been given the opportunity, well, it’s moronic.
it’s time we change the way we do things.

last night, crystal and i went out to meet some friends for a night of rock band at the lamplighter’s (a local pub) rock hero night, which rocks out every wednesday night with $3 sleeves of granville island beer. unfortunately, a local restaurant decided to host a staff party there, turning the place into a jungle, a sharp contrast to last week’s small-but-big-enough-to-have-a-good-time crowd.
we finally decided to hit the black frog instead, where the topic of douchebags and ‘dbags’ (someone who is extra ‘douchy’ is a ‘dbag’, according to andy) inevitably came up. that reminded me of this site: hotchickswithdouchebags.com.
seriously, folks, we’re talking hours of entertainment - so make sure you have some time to burn before clicking on this one!

lately, i’ve been feeling pretty overwhelmed with things that i want to do, but never end up having enough time to.
here’s a list:
- learn ruby
- learn ruby on rails
- learn mac os x programming
- get better at my job
- upload photos from our wedding
- upload photos from our honeymoon
- get better at photography
- get some musical talent
- become a guitar hero super star

Répondez s’il-vous-plaît. If you’ve received a wedding invitation, please respond via email (check invitation for details). Crystal and I had asked that guests RSVP by December 1st, 2007. We would appreciate your response as we finalize details for the day. Crystal and I leave for Sudbury in three weeks and three days. We are finishing all the details before leaving for Sudbury as the first five days will be absorbed by Christmas festivities then the latter few days will be absorbed by wedding preparations and meeting with the venue, dj, minister, etc before the big day. We will have little opportunity to revisit guest lists and shuffle around the seating once we leave for Sudbury, so please be kind and RSVP.
