New Insight
Today, at the paris auto show, Honda unveiled it’s redesigned “mild” hybrid Insight. Expected to get over 45mpg (5.2 L/100Km) and cost about USD$5000 less than the average USD$26,000 price of a Toyota Prius, I expect it will only ensure that American car companies continue to lose market share to their Japanese competition. While Ford continues to produce new vehicles like the Flex (and doesn’t even post fuel consumption estimates on its web site), and is producing a “fuel efficient” hybrid Cadillac Escalade that gets a whole 20 city /21 highway mpg (11.8 city / 11.2 highway L/100Km) with a price tag of over USD$72,000, it’s no wonder!

You guys ditch your Taurus yet? If not, what’re you waiting for?!? Dinks like you don’t need a big car; get a Honda Fit or something. Roof rack, cargo box, bike carrier and you’re good to go.
I drove a ‘95 Chevy Corsica for 7 years. It had a 3.1 litre V6 engine, smooth as silk, awesome on the highway but only had around 12 or 13 litre/100km city. It had lots of issues. Don’t think I’ll every go back to an American car for a really long time.

Every Honda Insight is sold with an “Obama ‘08″ sticker on it’s bumper (standard option).

Vince: Nope, haven’t ditched the Taurus yet, it just keeps on ticking, and I’m not spending money on a car just so that it can sit in the parkade 90% of the time. we drive so little, there really isn’t a point in spending all that money on a car. i’d rather pay my mortgage or buy up some of the great deals in the stock market.
our Taurus is over 10 years old this year, 215,000+ km on it, and the engine knocks like you won’t believe, especially on the uphills, but still, it just won’t die.
Andy: The Canadian model comes with a Green Party ‘08 sticker. :)
