give me 20, punk!
after a summer of stuffing my face and drinking up many storms, it is now time to pay the piper. i’ll be paying him back with countless cardio sessions on the treadmill and elliptical machines, sit ups, sit ups and more sit ups, topped off with weight lifting.
as of yesterday, i weighed 159.7lbs. my goal is to be under 150lbs by december 14th. it’s going to be a long, hard battle, as the pounds just don’t come off like they used when i was 20. don’t get me wrong, i don’t think i’m fat per se, but i do think that i’ve definitely been hauling a few extra pounds around with me lately. hopefully, hockey, eating healthier coupled with better portion control, and a new gym membership will allow me to achieve my goal in no time.
working out at a gym is probably one of my least favourite things in the world, mostly because i know the only reason i am there is because i sit at a desk all day. however, our new membership at theĀ steve nash sports club should keep me interested and motivated enough to want to be there everyday. another bonus is that it’s also just around the corner from my office, so hopefully, i’ll be able to get some lunch hour work out sessions in, starting with one tomorrow. i’m going to try a lunch time spin class, and then hit up an evening yoga session with crystal tomorrow. i’ve never done yoga at a gym or studio before, mostly because i think it’s going to suck and i hate the feeling of stretching. crystal has been bugging me to try it forever, so i will tomorrow, i finally will. god knows, i could definitely benefit from more core strength.

Yes, you will benefit from a little stretching and strengthening. Considering you used to bruise from the tightness of your hamstrings, the stretching is much needed. Besides, your hockey game will improve as a result.

I agree that working out in a gym sucks. I have been working on losing pounds lately and have discovered that I like to run outside with the puppy. Just this morning I saw 4 kangaroos on my run! It sure is alot more fun and motivating than watching other sweaty people next to you on a treadmill.

No doubt Andrea. I must say however, that this gym is equipped to the nines. Every single excersice machine has it’s own TV screen - it definitely helps pass the time.

Ohhhh… your own tv.! Now that is flash! Our gym has a tv but it is up too high for me to reach the buttons and I can’t find the remote!! However, I paid $30 for a lifetime membership and my own key which I can use to enter the place at any time. The joys of small town, rural living I guess.
And… my nice outside, peaceful run yesterday was interrupted by crows swooping my head (so close I felt my hair move) to protect their nest. Damn crazy outback crows!!

andrea - 24 hr access, lifetime membership and your own key, for only a $30AUD, damn. that is awesome. our membership is around $55/month. at that rate, you could buy a new remote for your gym and still be WELL ahead of the game. :) hmmm… crows, eh? we have a murder of crows that roost on a tree just across the street from our place. it can get pretty loud on there in the morning and evening when they all return for the night.
andy andy andy - if there is any cardio machine for girls, it’s the stair climber. i see dudes on the elliptical machines all the time. big manly dudes. you should try it.
