cell phone
Last March, my cell phone contract with Bell Mobility finally expired. I’d been looking forward to getting a new cellphone, but then Apple announced the iPhone, so I decided to wait. And while it hasn’t been officially announced in Canada yet, I am hopeful that it will be soon.
So, while I wait, I’ve continued to use my Samsung SPH-A660.
A few weeks ago, in the middle of Vancouver’s first heat wave of the summer, Crystal and I decided to go for a swim. We rode our bikes along the sea wall and went for a dip at Third Beach in Stanley Park. Unfortunately, I forgot my cell phone in my pocket. :( After drying it out for nearly a week, I successfully managed to turn it on and give it a try. I did manage to get it to boot up, and made a few short calls with it to test it out, but it just isn’t the same anymore - it likes to randomly shut off, rendering it practically useless.
That’s life.
Now I really need a new phone, but I have a dilemma - do I bite the bullet and get a new phone, go phone-less until the iPhone comes to Canada, or try to find a used replacement that I can use on the Bell Mobility network?

you’re lucky…Lithium water = not a good combination. It could just be your battery since it already powers up and works but just dies abruptly. My old camcorder battery was like that. Just had to “recondition” (i.e. drain and recharge) the battery using a 10ohm resistor. But for the cost of a new battery, you might as well get a new phone.
